Pearls...One word at a time....

Every word almost a sentence; every sentence a victory.
~~~Saint Vincent of Lerins
Today's pearl on writing and reading is for both readers and writers. As I read this last night, I considered what Vincent was saying. How no matter how little time one had or what slight progress one made, every word and sentence made a difference, reached a goal....
It's interesting to think of everything that goes into the things we read. Each word and sentence so well-thought out...As we skim over them, we never consider the aches and pains the author went through to deliver the just-right image, the perfect lyricism of thought and sound and sentence.
While you read today, consider the gift the writer gave you, the hours of toil and thought simply to produce something to please you.
As you write today, consider each word is your VICTORY!!! Never mind the grating of that little sand, that kernel of thought that got under skin, soon, you will be presenting a pearl of your own for your readers!
Pearls On Poetry
Poetry teaches the enormous force of a few words, and, in proportion to the inspiration, checks loquacity~~~Emerson
Words for the writer and speaker. Nothing is more important than understanding the force of a few words...the impact they can make if all the superfluous, all our loquacious tendancies, are trimmed and only the inspiring left behind.
Pearl for today? Read a poem and consider how to apply to your writing.
Pearls on Writing
Of all the arts in which the wise excel,
Nature’s chief masterpiece is writing well.
~~~John Sheffield, Duke of Buckingham and Normandy.

Without the written word, man has nothing to pass on. All things in nature vanish and fade---the beauty of a summer rose fades, the glory of autumn colors, well, fall...vanish. Captured only by memory...or pen. I see his point all around me. Write well, dear writers. Your calling is glorious.
